As a neutral shoe, the Cumulus 20 can feel it is truly made for all runners. But it does come with a smaller forefoot which will remove some of the freedom you might have been used to from the previous version. However, this makes the shoes slightly more responsive and better at higher speeds. Still, they are true to size and I don’t need to go half a size up for the right fit. With a lightweight construction, they also maintain a flexible profile, even with the gel insertions of the midsole.

With great ventilation, the shoes are among the most recommended solutions when it comes to long runs. The shoes come with the distinct gel technology which works great with the foam to absorb a large percentage of the shocks on the market. At the same time, they represent a design which comes with a higher collar design, so if you have issues with the Achille’s tendon, they might not be the best solution for you. Among other top features, the shoes come with a durable rubber outsole which uses a guidance rail for a better heel to toe transition which translates into smoother strides.

Combining some of the most popular Asics technologies, the Gel Cumulus 20 represent running shoes which are made for a great overall performance. Furthermore, they are recommended among the options which are easy to use, especially in the conditions in which they come in such a low weight, which is specific to the Flytegoam Lyte technology.

Among the various upgrades, it is good to see the series including the midsole technologies which allow it to offer a lightweight solution for all runners. With an upper which is also more compact, the shoes are indeed recommended for normal pronators, as these runners don’t need too much space inside the shoes. With a roomy forefoot, they offer enough comfort for all types of running styles. Combining the rear and forefoot gel system with the Flytefoam Lyte technology, the shoes are among the recommended options when it comes to improved overall comfort and durability. They represent a worthy upgrade and one of the great first purchases from Asics if you are moving from another premium shoe.

The outsole of the shoes is made with vertical and horizontal grooves for added traction and flexion capacity. Made to fit the needs of most runners, the shoes are among the recommended options when it comes to better overall durability as well. The rubber outsole offers plenty of traction across many surfaces and it represents the foundation of a great heel to toe transition. At the same time, it also works great with the midsole design which finds the midfoot in full contact with the ground for better stability.

With a midsole which is dominated by the gel and FLytefoam technologies, the running shoes are among the most interesting solutions in their class. They represent a great option for people looking to improve their overall running experience and for those who want extra cushioning. The technologies are not new to Asics as they have been used on other shoes as well, such as on the Kayano 25. But at the same time, the proven responsiveness of the shoes is recommended for those seeking improved durability, especially in the context of a much lighter midsole when compared to EVA alternatives.

The upper is breathable and comfortable. It represents one of the most interesting solutions when it comes to improved comfort and one of the leading options for those seeking improved overall comfort, especially in the conditions in which it has a good dynamic response. Even with its lightweight profile, the upper also comes with extra padding around the heel collar for added protection. But the upper suffers in terms of looks with only 5 colors to choose from.

Size And Fit

The shoes are true to size and they represent one of the leading options in terms of overall comfort and durability. But at the same time, they are made for better overall lateral support due to the engineered mesh materials of the upper which are now stretchy as well.
