Outsole

The outsole of the shoes is dominated by the high abrasion rubber both in the heel and in the forefoot for its entire length. With the ultimate traction, the outsole is perfect for your marathons as it can save you time in multiple conditions. The patterns of the outsole are also optimized for the best overall performance, especially when you consider that runners might encounter small rocks on race day.

Midsole

With a midsole which is just as good as you’d imagine, the shoes are hard to match for versatility. Made with the Lunarlon cushioning layer, the foam is lighter than what you would be used to on training days. It is why they are highly praised for their natural feel. But the Zoom Fly technology is also improved with the carbon-infused nylon plate which has real benefits for shock absorption, propelling and even maintain the shape of the shoe for long periods of time.

Upper

There is no doubt that the futuristic upper can improve running performance, at least to a certain degree. With a nearly seamless construction and a design which makes them look apart, the engineered mesh also comes with perforations. They have a role in keeping your feet cooler in certain areas. Together with the Flywire lacing, the upper offers a sock-like feel which only enhances their special feel and natural feet biomechanics.

Updates

Nike Zoom Fly shoes are among the best options to consider at this moment. Unless you are a die-hard fan of old-school designs, the running shoes offer an improved upper and a unique outsole which works great together when it comes to marathons and other running events.

The major upgrades Nike engineered for the shoes are on the outsole and in the midsole. With the added carbon-infused nylon and the Lunarlon foam, the running shoes represent viable options for those seeking the latest innovation and maybe step away from the TPU foam for marathons.

The outsole of the shoes is not a bad upgrade either. With full rubber on the forefoot, you will have immediate traction when running. This feeling maintains well in time as well, mainly due to the carbon-infused nylon design.

The outsole which extends past the heel is also a good upgrade. Apart from adding stability, it also improves the aerodynamics of the show and the way air circulates towards the end of the shoe.

Size And Fit

As you’d expect, the running shoes come with a very snug fit. The competition shoes are thus able to offer the type of support your feet need. This can only increase your overall confidence while running. If you have wider feet, you might need to go half a size up for the right fit in this case.

After many miles with the shoes, the Zoom Fly shoes come with an impressively-durable upper. The knit materials are really made to a high standard, much as similar options from Nike. In terms of looks, the shoes are also designed to be modern. While they are not too daring, they come with a certain appeal which can be seen as minimalistic as well. When you take into account that they are durable as well, the shoes really become the whole package which so many runners need. On the other hand, they are not the most flexible shoes Nike has produced.

With one of the thickest foam cushioning designs on the market, the shoes feel really comfortable. Of course, the extra thickness takes from the flexibility of the shoes, but at the end of the day, they are not really made to be the most flexible options. I like the fact that they also use a combination of exposed foam and rubber for the outsole, which limits the stiffness to a degree in which the shoes can be used for performance. With great vivid colors to choose from, they also fell quite distinct in a segment where stiff shoes can come with limited color options.
