There’s little doubt the 2018 Nike Flex RN shoes are a major upgrade. For many runners, this was a much-needed upgrade, especially when you consider the improved outsole and upper designs.

Among the notable updates, the shoes come with added rubber tread in the center of the outsole. With improved traction, they are a better option on flat surfaces when compared to previous versions. But the rubber addition is small to maintain the same flexible and lightweight profile of the shoes. With an 8mm drop, the shoes are among the options which are above the average when it comes to cushioning. A notable difference comes in the upper as well.

The knit materials are durable and they represent a sturdier option to some of the lightweight mesh alternatives. But even with a thick upper, the lacing system allows an enhanced fit, at least for most runners. The added overlays on the heel area can also prove useful for improved fit even after miles of running.

The updated outsole of the running shoes makes them a viable option for different types of surfaces. As long as you stay away from gravel, the outsole is capable to come with the traction you need. Made with a flexible pattern, it is great for most experienced runners as well.

The supportive foam midsole is what makes the shoes feel natural and what promotes a barefoot feel. Even if it is not the thinnest midsole, the shoes are made to offer comfort in different running situations. The lightweight cushioning is recommended when you are training at least a few times per week.

With knit upper materials in the midfoot and forefoot areas, you are able to take your running skills to the next level. It also helps that the upper is slightly stretchy for those movements when you need extra freedom. The fit of the upper is also distinct. Due to the Flywire lacing design, the inside of the shoe wraps around the midfoot to add stability to the perfect fit. The heel area has been reinforced which adds to the overall durability of the shoes.

Size And Fit

When it comes to fit, the shoes are among the few options which are true to size. Runners don’t have to worry about the various sizing issues which come with wider running shoes. Their responsiveness and fit also recommend that as gym shoes as they come with the stability which is needed for any type of activity.
