If you’re looking for lightweight running shoes, the Nike Air Zoom Winflo 5 can be a recommended solution. They stand out with their increased flexibility both in the upper and in the midsole and this makes them a comfortable option on different types of flat surfaces. Notably made with better breathability than most running shoes in the upper, the Winflo 5 design offers improved comfort during long runs compared to the Winflo 4.

15 reasons to buy

  • Superior breathability when compared to the Winflo 4 with the help of the perforated upper

  • Flywire design makes the shoes great for a better fit in the combination with the traditional lacing

  • Thinner padding for the tongue for added comfort and increased flexibility, especially for sprints

  • Supportive feel even for overpronation with the added benefit of a removable insole

  • Full length mesh upper for added flexibility with no overlays as previous versions which also limited breathability

  • Flexible waffle design outsole great for flat surfaces which maintain the range’s good traction performance

  • Comfortable padding around the ankles to support your feet during intense running sessions

  • Rubber outsole for good traction on different surfaces and improved durability in high abrasion situations such as running on hard surfaces

  • Reduced impact on joints due to the added crash rail which can be customized with your own insole

  • Modern design which fits most modern running gear based on a minimalistic approach dominated by the breathable perforated mesh upper

  • Seamless design for added comfort during long runs which protects your feet against possible irritation

  • An affordable option for everyday running and one of the shoes to consider for beginners

  • Made to tackle track, tarmac and indoor surfaces due to the high flexibility of the outsole

  • A versatile design which can be used in the gym as well as machines such as the treadmill

  • Combines a flexible upper with a flexible midsole for a lightweight feel which promotes natural movements

2 reasons why not to buy

  • Color selection can be improved both for men and for women

  • Major differences to the previous versions are only in the midfoot and the heel areas.

Made with breathable mesh materials, the shoes feel great on the feet. They do not make your feet sweat too much, even with intense running or workouts. The fit is at a high standard as it comes with the extra sage lacing system used by Nike and proven in other designs as well. Made with a padded insole, the shoes feel great when in contact with the skin and they even feel great when you wear thinner socks. With EVA cushioning seen on most Nike shoes, they are a versatile solution for everyday running.

With a very soft cushioning, the running shoes are a great solution for a natural stride. They are made to fit most runners and if you need a bit of extra arch support, you can always remove the insole to replace it with your own orthotics. The shoes are also great for traction so that you can tackle all types of surfaces. I like the outsole which is similar to what can be seen in other leading Nike design. With its waffle patterns and extra crash rail on the side, the outsole is durable and it offers the right grip for most runners.

The running shoes are now lighter than ever before. With added flexibility and breathability, they can be considered both by new runners and by those who are already familiar with running every day.

Compared to the Nike Men's Air Zoom Winflo 4, the running shoes are considerable better for breathability. The upper is now design with a full-length mesh instead of the midfoot and heel overlays. This makes them a better option, especially if you aim for more than the occasional short run. The Flywire design of the shoes is also considerably improved. It enhances natural stride for most runners.

Dominated by the waffle design, the durable outsole combines the benefits of the crash rail to offer you the right traction, even on wet surfaces. Many runners are also appreciating the reduced weight when it comes to long runs which can certainly get tiring.

The midsole of the shoes is truly versatile, enhancing your comfort while out running or when running indoors. It makes them one of the versatile options, especially when you choose to use your own insole if you need specialized arch support.

The main attraction of the shoes is with the upper. With a perforated and breathable full mesh design, the upper represents a top option for those seeking to improve their overall comfort while not adding weight to their shoes. Even the tongue is thinner compared to similar shoes to fully make them a comfortable option on hot summer days. It’s also worth noting that some runners reported a roomier feel, especially when compared to other running shoes. If you have narrow feet, it’s worth exploring smaller sizes, especially as you approach sprinting where fit is more important than in situations where you only use them as casual shoes.

Size And Fit

For most runners, the shoes fit exceptionally well. Overpronation is not an issue with the shoes. However, some of the fit issues are the heel area are similar to the ones of the previous version. If you have thinner ankles, you might need to go half a size down for the right fit.
