Outsole

Made with a durable outsole, the shoes come with horizontal grooves and a large cross-groove running from the midfoot to the toes for better flexion. However, the thick rubber prevents them from being the most flexible solution on the market. As the shoes are made for extra comfort, they are able to offer good traction without sacrificing durability which makes them a well-rounded solution.

Midsole

The midsole of the shoes is one of the main attractions of the Nimbus 20. All runners want to experiment with the gel system in combination with the Flytefoam technology. The result is a lightweight solution which is easy to work with, especially in the conditions in which you get improved overall natural stride. For some runners, the shoes might even feel too light, but in the end, it is worth knowing that you can count on them when and if you want to push your limits.

Upper

Made with the Fluitfit technology, the mesh upper of the shoes is among the most interesting choices when it comes to flexibility and durability. The shoes are among the leading options when it comes to better overall comfort and the upper plays an important role as well. The engineered mesh is not made to be too flexible as the shoes are recommended for normal pronation, but even in these conditions, they represent one of the top options when it comes to better overall dynamic response.

Updates

The running shoes offer a range of technologies in the latest version of the Nimbus series. Using the gel system, the shoes are comfortable and supportive offering that distinct Asics feel so many runners look for. As a premium design, the shoes can work in any type of running situation and they will offer the performance which is expected both indoors and outdoors. When you take into consideration that they are lighter due to the new foam midsole, the shoes become one of the best options for those seeking improved overall comfort.

The upgrades to the shoes are centered on the technologies of the international manufacturer. With the Ortohlite support, they are even more comfortable than they used to be. At the same time, the comfort is significantly influenced by the Flytefoam technology. This new light feel is what can make the difference when trying to surpass your own running performance.

The improved gel and Flytefoam technology provide a good reason for an upgrade even for the owners of previous Nimbus shoes. This is why it represents one of the most interesting solutions when it comes to heel clutching as the system offers a distinct lightweight yet supportive feel with the added heel counter. They can be among the upgrades to be considered by Asics gel design fans as well.

Size And Fit

Made true to size, the shoes fit most people with no issues. However, if you are coming from a previous generation of Nimbus shoes you might even consider going half a size up for better overall comfort. With added discreet eyelets, the shoes are also modern and they can be a worthy upgrade in a world where runners are already working on the smaller details which often make the difference.

With gel insertions in the heel and in the forefoot, the shoes are really great when running for long periods of time. During some days, they have also been a great solution for casual wear as they provided the comfort I needed when standing for long periods of time. With one of the most breathable uppers, the shoes also feel quite comfortable during these long days. With an outsole which is similar to the previous version, you can also expect a decent heel to toe transition paired with good rubber durability. The shoes can be an option if you are not looking for top racing performance.

Made with gel cushioning and a bulky heel counter, the shoes are well balanced. They feel comfortable for the most part and they can be a daily solution for many runners. Characterized by an upper which comes with a thin and breathable construction, the shoes are a leading option when it comes to flexibility. Even with the guiding outsole rail, they are still quite flexible on hard surfaces. On the downside, the shoes are quite heavy and they also come with a toebox which can be considered wide by the standards of the modern runner.
