The latest version of the Boston running shoes is balanced and improved. While the upper is not the best from Adidas, it does its job well with breathability in the toe box and on the sides of the shoe. But the upper is stretchy which feel great when running. But even with a stretchy upper, it is highly recommended to go half a size up to avoid a shallow fit. The feel of the midsole is similar to the previous version. It is great for running on all surfaces. Depending on the distance, the midsole is right for race day as well. With a solid ride which is not too soft, the shoes feel great even at a higher pace.

The shoes come with an improved outsole compared to the Boston 6. With Continental rubber and an included torsion system, the shoes are great on multiple outdoor surfaces such as concrete or grass. But they are limited in grip on wet surfaces. However, the shoes perform very well on dry surfaces where the added heel cup proves to be a good design upgrade for better stability. While the shoes are not revolutionary from this perspective, they are a worthy upgrade from the Boston 6 if you need added stability and comfort as they come with extra padding as well.

With a profile which is geared towards racing, the shoes might be tight for everyday training sessions. But when you want to squeeze the last bit of speed to reduce your marathon times, they can be an inspiring solution.

While the design of the shoes looks similar to what you saw in the previous versions, the Boston 7 comes with improvements in the outsole and midsole areas. It is here that you will find the durable Continental rubber and the added quality of the supportive Boost cushioning. You now enjoy a better overall responsiveness from the midsole which has proven to be a hit with a few other Adidas options.

The outsole has seen considerable improvements over the previous version. It’s worth noting that it is not as innovative as they technologies, materials, and designs of the outsole are already used by Adidas. But even so, the outsole is improved with the help of the Continental rubber which offers them a more durable feel. The webbing look of the outsole rubber is also gear towards proper functionality in all directions as it naturally follows the direction of your feet. Making the connection between the heel and the forefoot area, the torsion system is really activated by the proper grip.

Underfoot comfort is ensured by the Boost midsole. It is here that you will also find the EVA layer with symmetrical supportive rails on the sides for the ultimate stability. It is also worth having a look at the torsion system by itself, as it represents a solution which has also been used successfully on other shoes. The lightweight and supportive profile of the midsole is what results after these popular technologies and materials have been used by Adidas.

Even if it looks similar to the previous version, the upper of the shoes is among the most interesting options to work with. The pure form of the upper can be seen in its practical design with no overlays. This also ensures that the shoes are not bulky and that they are as fast as they can be. Using the Microfit technology, the materials of the upper are made in such a way which ensures the sock-like feel. This feeling is also enhanced by the CoolOver lining which absorbs moisture and which also gets rid of it more efficiently.

Size And Fit

The shoes are tight as you would expect from racing options. At the same time, they are made in such a way which minimizes drag. This is why you might even need to consider going half a size up, especially if you are not going to use them for racing purposes mainly.
